Caring for your handcrafted bag

A handcrafted cotton piece is made to last for years. A little care keeps it looking its best.

Keep its shape. When you’re not using it, store your bag stuffed lightly, with tissue, a scarf, or a small cushion, so it holds its form. Avoid hanging a loaded bag by its handles for long periods.

Cleaning. Spot clean with a damp cloth and a tiny amount of mild soap; press gently rather than rub. Let it air dry away from direct sun, reshaping it while it’s still slightly damp. We don’t recommend machine washing, it’s worth the extra minute to do it by hand.

Leather details. If your piece has leather handles, keep them dry and away from prolonged damp. A little leather conditioner once or twice a year keeps them supple.

A note on character. Because each piece is worked by hand, small variations in colour and texture are natural, and with wear, cotton softens beautifully. These aren’t flaws; they’re the quiet signature of something made by a person, not a machine.
